Is the environment at risk?
I asked some people about their beliefs. Some people believe that the environment is at risk and they are concerned about the future of our planet. First, the poor farmer from china: They are told that they have no right to harm the environment. They need to walk to the town to shop or ride bikes to go to school. And every day at home, the water they use to wash things is used to flush the toilet; they always carry plastic bags with them when they go to the supermarket to buy things; they do not throw away the bag. Instead keep it for taking out the trash, packing things, etc. They also only drink water from the well. They need to reuse old clothes every year; they have no air conditioning in summer, no heating in winter. We admit they are the true environmentalists. On other hands the middle class: they sat in Air-conditioned rooms drinking soda and told that they are environmentally friendly. Are they? They live in big houses, drive cars, go shopping and go to the gym instead of walking, drinking bottled water and buying a lot of unnecessary things. They are the main force of consumption. Finally, the research: The research also shows the richest 1% of the world's population is responsible for more than twice as much carbon emissions as the poorest 50% of the world's population. For example Bill Gates, one of the world's most high-profile environmental advocates, flew 59 times in 2017, with a total flight distance of 343,500 kilometers, more than eight circles around the earth, and produced as much as 1,600 tons of greenhouse gas , equivalent to the sum of the average annual carbon emissions of 105 Americans.
The results of the survey show that the poor are helping the environment in various ways. The middle class is not helping the environment as much. However, the survey shows that the rich are more responsible for most of the environmental problems. I think the rich people who promote saving the environment should listen to their own message first and put in practice different ways to reduce pollution.
