Speed and Fit... Yes. Stability... NoThe fit and feel of this shoe are great. They are a bit of a struggle to get on because of the sock like construction, but once on the fit is, well, like a glove. I was apprehensive about the speed lace because I like to use a runners knot for the extra security it provides. The lacing and fit of the shoe gave me all the lock down I could ever ask for. The mid foot and heel are snug. The forefoot is actually pretty roomy for a Salomon. The midsole is more on the firm side. Combine that with the energy blades and you get a really fast, fun and responsive ride. This shoe really feels like it hits the mark between long distance comfort and race day speed. Now for the downside... the heel and mid foot of the shoe are rather narrow (it's a Salomon) which made descending the rocky technical trails found in Colorado a chore. You must be very conscious of where and how you place your feet in order to avoid rolling the shoe over. They are definitely not very confidence inspiring on the downhills.

Great but narrowI love these shoes until you hit the downhills and they become the narrowest shoe ever with hot spots on the big toes. They are fast, have perfect cushion, and the plates help on climbs but it's frustrating that Salomon can't make their shoes just a little bit wider.

So close to greatnessThe Pulsar were amazing going up hill on steeps, rocky technical, and fast runnable sections of forest trails. The problem came for me during steep downhills....all of sudden they felt extremely narrow and like my foot was trying to explode out the side. It was like the shoe wanted to give out. Other than this issue they are fantastic and fast!
